Things to do in Galveston
Galveston offers an unequaled spectrum of activities. There is the beach and the water which are great for swimming, surfing, shell hunting, fishing, sailing, birding and myriad other activities.
There are two golf courses and miniature golf.
The beach and the bay and wetlands also provide areas for Wildlife Viewing, Hiking, Fishing, Horseback Riding, Coastal Birding and biking.
There are major activity parks: Moody Gardens includes The Aquarium, the Rain Forest Pyramid, an I-Max as well as other ancillary attractions. Nearby is Schlitterbahn Water Park which is open all winter. The Historic Pleasure Pier is an amusement park that is built over the Gulf.
Museums include the Train Museum, the Texas Seaport Museum and Elissa Pier 21, Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig & Museum, Ashton Villa, and the Bishop’s Palace, a very remarkable home. The USS Cavalla, a World War II Submarine, and the USS Stewart, one of only three destroyer escorts remaining in the world, are open for tours and berthed at Seawolf park.

- Harbor Tours offer a boat trip around the harbor.
- Galveston Duck Tours takes you through The Strand, Offatts Bayou, and the Historical District in an amphibious vehicle.
- Treasure Island Tour Train gives a leisurely 17-mile narrated trip that takes about an hour-and–half to cover the high-lights of both old and new Galveston.
